The short version
Dupefold processes your photos entirely on your device. We don’t require an account, we never upload your photos, we don’t track you, and we don’t sell or share your data. This policy explains the details.

1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Dupefold (“Dupefold,” “the app,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by kick-start.ai, handles information in connection with your use of the Dupefold iOS application. Dupefold is a duplicate photo and storage cleaner that helps you find and remove redundant photos, screenshots, and bursts to free up space on your iPhone or iPad.
We built Dupefold around a simple principle: your photos are private, so the app is designed to work without ever sending them off your device. By using Dupefold, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Who this applies to
This policy applies to everyone who downloads or uses the Dupefold app. It covers the information handled by the app itself and, where relevant, information processed by Apple in order to deliver the app and process purchases.
3. Information we process
Dupefold is designed to collect as little as possible. In normal use, Dupefold does not collect, transmit, or store your personal information on our servers — because Dupefold has no servers that receive your photos or personal data. The categories of information involved are:
- Photo library content — accessed and analyzed only on your device (see Section 4).
- Purchase and subscription status — handled by Apple’s App Store and StoreKit (see Section 5).
- On-device app settings and counters — stored locally on your device (see Section 6).
4. Your photo library
To find duplicates, similar photos, screenshots, bursts, and low-quality failed shots, Dupefold asks for permission to access your photo library. When you grant access:
- Dupefold reads photo metadata and image data only on your device to group and analyze your photos.
- Your photos are never uploaded to kick-start.ai, never sent to any cloud service by Dupefold, and never shared with any third party.
- Analysis, grouping, and space calculations happen locally using Apple’s on-device frameworks. Matching is imperfect — you should review groups before deleting.
- When you choose to delete photos, Dupefold uses Apple’s Photos system to move them to your Recently Deleted album, where iOS keeps them recoverable for about 30 days before permanent removal (or sooner if you Empty that album). All deletions are initiated by you and require your confirmation.
- Photos you mark as Favorites in Apple Photos are not auto-selected for deletion in Dupefold.
You can change or revoke Dupefold’s photo access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos on your device. Revoking access may limit the app’s functionality.
5. Purchases & subscriptions
Dupefold offers optional paid subscriptions (Dupefold Pro Monthly and Dupefold Pro Yearly) that unlock unlimited deletes. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
To validate your subscription and unlock Pro features, Dupefold uses Apple’s StoreKit to check your entitlement and transaction status. This information is provided by Apple and used only to determine whether Pro features should be active on your device. Apple’s handling of your purchase data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
6. On-device data
Dupefold stores a small amount of information locally on your device to make the app work, such as:
- Your count of free deletes used (Dupefold’s free tier includes a limited number of deletes before Pro is required).
- App preferences and interface state.
This data is stored in your device’s local storage (for example, using Apple’s UserDefaults) and is not transmitted to us. It is removed when you delete the app.
7. What we don’t collect
To be explicit, Dupefold does not:
- Upload, copy, or transmit your photos or videos off your device.
- Require you to create an account or provide your name, email, or phone number to use the app.
- Track you across other apps or websites.
- Use advertising identifiers or serve third-party ads.
- Sell, rent, or share your personal information with data brokers or advertisers.
- Collect precise location data.
8. Third-party services
The only third party inherently involved in your use of Dupefold is Apple, which distributes the app and processes purchases. When you download Dupefold or make a purchase, Apple may collect information in accordance with its own privacy policy. We do not integrate third-party advertising networks or third-party analytics SDKs that receive your personal data. If this ever changes, we will update this policy and, where required, request your consent.
9. Children’s privacy
Dupefold is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because Dupefold processes photos only on-device and does not collect personal data on our servers, no such information is transmitted to us. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will address it.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), including the rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing.
Because Dupefold keeps your photo data and app data on your device and does not send it to us, you remain in direct control:
- Access & deletion: Your data lives on your device. You can delete it by removing photos in Dupefold or by deleting the app.
- Photo permissions: Manage or revoke access anytime in your device’s Settings.
- Subscriptions: Manage or cancel anytime in your App Store account settings.
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under applicable privacy laws. If you have a request regarding your rights, contact us using the details below and we will respond as required by law.
11. Data security
Dupefold’s privacy-by-design approach is its strongest protection: because your photos and app data are processed and stored on your device rather than on our servers, there is no central database of your content for anyone to breach. Data on your device is protected by iOS’s built-in security and encryption. No method of electronic storage is ever completely secure, but keeping your data local materially reduces risk.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the app, legal requirements, or our practices. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice within the app. Your continued use of Dupefold after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
