What DPI does Spoonflower use?
Spoonflower previews fabric and wallpaper at 150 DPI. Upload at the largest print scale you plan to use — Spoonflower will not let you scale above 100% later. Effective DPI on your file is pixels ÷ inches: a 900 px tile printed as a 6-inch repeat is exactly 150 DPI.

Worked example: 6-inch repeat in 2026
You exported a 900 × 900 px PNG from Pattern Maker and want a 6-inch basic repeat on Spoonflower basic cotton.

For wallpaper with the same tile and a half-drop repeat: 4 repeats across 24 inches is an even count, so half-drop also passes. If your tile were only 800 px wide at 6 inches, effective DPI would be 133 — fail until you export at least 900 px.
How wide is a Spoonflower wallpaper panel in pixels?
Wallpaper panels are 24 inches wide at 150 DPI, which equals 3600 pixels. Your repeat must tile across that width: a whole number of repeats for basic and half-brick, and a whole even number for half-drop and mirror repeats.
Example: 6-inch repeats → 4 across 24″ (even, OK for half-drop). 8-inch repeats → 3 across 24″ — not a whole number, so adjust repeat size or crop.

What DPI does Spoonflower use?
150 DPI for fabric and wallpaper previews. Upload at the largest scale you will print; you cannot scale above 100% later.
How many pixels for a 12-inch repeat at 150 DPI?
12 × 150 = 1800 pixels per repeat side. Export at least 1800 × 1800 px for a square 12-inch basic repeat.
What is 3600 px in inches at 150 DPI?
3600 ÷ 150 = 24 inches — the Spoonflower wallpaper panel width.
Why does half-drop need an even repeat count?
Half-drop offsets every other column by half a repeat. Across 24 inches you need a whole number of repeats and an even count so edges align.
Should I upload 300 DPI to Spoonflower?
Spoonflower still previews at 150 DPI. Use 300 DPI exports for other mills; do not mix presets when sizing for Spoonflower.
How is effective DPI calculated?
Pixel width divided by intended repeat width in inches. The DPI calculator tab also solves required pixels from target DPI.
Is my file uploaded to your servers?
No. Decode and audit run in your browser. Only billing calls Kick-Start when you unlock export.
What file types are supported?
PNG and JPG in v1. If the browser can decode TIFF, it may work; PNG is recommended for repeats with transparency.
Can I resize without Photoshop?
